Bangkok Jungle:
Kind words indeed. I'm just a country boy who has been down the road and back. The left photo above is when I was a chauffeur back in the early 90s in southern California. I have learned a lot about people through people. The right photo is me now. I will miss my friends in BKK but must see some friends in the USA too. I'm putting on a blurs/rock show next summer, for the local hero back on the Mississippi River. Writing poems everyday...loving life.
Would love to hear from you all...da-Bone (Stray-Dog Enterprises)

See you Jimmy! Ya big yin,

That's great poem says I

a nod from me and a blink of the eye

nae bother, says the Chinky,

yer a nobody, step aside I've bigger fish ta fry!

Wiv me fried Mars bar,

and carry out from the broo,

I'll be a making hay while it shines,

instead of looking at that ugly gob that's you!

So get ye away to your bed this night,

afore I crack my knuckles under this street light,

and whisk yer soul into Hades,

and create quite a hullabaloo!

Yeah, interesting thesis, 'The decline of newspaper popularity has been attributed to the rise of the internet and the proliferation of web-based content. With an extremely low barrier of entry and variable cost, the web allows anyone with a computer to become an independent publisher: As a result, the amount and variety of content online far exceeds print publications in most fields.'

And you're right about the fact that community based readers are taking the place of the traditional newspaper buyers. Indeed, the entire nature of reading is changing just as the way how we process what we read and the ways we react to it are, too.

If you've read Dan Gardner's fabulous book 'Risk: The Science and Politics of Fear' you learn a lot about our very modern psychology of the world that is fast changing around us.

The main point of Gardner's book is that there is a huge chasm between our perception of risk and the actual reality of it, and more often than not that gap gets ever bigger and bigger as we use the Internet and other forms of technology.

"The problem is we have a brain that evolved in a hunter-gatherer environment, which is completely unlike the world in which we live. You turn on the news, you see a parade of fantastically improbable events that are tragic and awful. A child is snatched on the other side of the planet. Now, you have a rational mind which states this event says nothing about the safety of your own children. But you also have an unconscious mind and that does not process information in the same way."

So what you get is a skewed version of reality that only gets worse the more you multiply the technology and media you are using.

I predict a radical change in all forms of communication as the internet has both brought us together but also rendered us asunder through it's immediacy and mediating functions.

I was there at the monterey pop festival. It took a little ingenuity but my college girlfriend, Linda and my dog Froto were broke but come hell or high water we we were going to be where the Happening was and hitch-hiked over from San Francisco side with a bag of little plastic jumping beans, in all colors, and little painted faces. We bought them from a little China lady who was selling them on the streets of Chinatown.
I figured if she could sell them for a nickel a piece I could sell them for a quarter.
We bought her whole lot and at a discount and right on the path to the ticket booth on a little blanket we laid them all out with a sign 3 for a dollar and damn if they didn't sell and we grabbed our dollars and bought two bright tickets to the weekend.
We had missed some of the first acts but by the time we entered guess who was standing like a giant on the stage. In awe we were there when Hendrix in full madness smashed his guitar and we stood in the isles stunned as if we had seen God get sideswiped on the 405 freeway.
Jimmy's book took us all back when.. the days of wonder and thunder
